How is Bastet Home different from parental control apps?
App-based parental controls only protect the device they are installed on, and children can remove or bypass them. Bastet Home works at the network level - it protects every device in your home automatically, including games consoles, smart TVs, and any device a visitor brings onto your Wi-Fi.
Does it require a monthly subscription?
No. All core features - DNS filtering, time schedules, content blocking, and device management - run locally in your home with no ongoing fees.
Can children bypass it?
Bastet Home identifies devices by hardware MAC address, not IP address. Changing Wi-Fi settings, using a VPN app, or switching DNS servers does not help. It also blocks DNS-over-HTTPS - the most common bypass technique used by older children.
Does it monitor or record what my children do online?
No. Bastet Home blocks harmful content - it does not read messages, track location, or record full browsing history. It logs which domains were blocked. No data is sent to any cloud service.
Does it work with my existing router?
Yes. Bastet Home sits between your broadband router and the rest of your home network. Your router, Wi-Fi, and ISP all stay exactly as they are.
