Bastet Home - Guardian of the Home

Setting Up Your Bastet Home Device

What you will need

  • Your Bastet Home device
  • One Ethernet cables (includeed)
  • The power supply (included)
  • The wifi attena
  • Access to your broadband router

Step 1: Connect the device

First install the wifi annena by plugging it into one of the USB ports on the side of the device. We recommend using the top left USB slot that is colour coded blue.

Next, install the ethernet cable into the WAN ethernet port on the side of the device. Plug the other end into a spare LAN socket on the back of your broadband router.

Now, plug the mirco USD power adaptor into the back of the device, and plug the other end into a suitable power outlet.

Plug one Ethernet cable from your broadband router’s LAN port into the WAN port on the Bastet Home device. Plug a second cable from the LAN port on the device to your home network switch or main access point.

Power the device using the included USB-C cable. The status light will flash amber while booting, then turn solid green when ready.

Step 2: Open the management interface

From any device on your home network, open a browser and go to:

Management page

You will be prompted to create an admin password on first access. You should also complete your registration details and agree to the license agreement. We need this so we can send you automated updates to the code and configuration. NOTE we do not send any monitoring or usage information to our servers unless you specifically ask for this to assist support.

Choosing a password

When choosing a password you need to make it at least 8 characters and we recommend you have a combination of upper and lower case characters, numerics and ideally a special character.

Your password MUST be kept secret from your children!

Make sure you use a memorable password and ideally store it in a password maanger. If you lose the password we will have to talk you through doing a device reset.

Step 3: Run first-boot setup

The setup wizard will:

  1. Detect your WAN and LAN interfaces automatically.
  2. Create three default profiles: Children, Teenagers, and Parents (unrestricted).
  3. Scan your network and list connected devices.

Walk through each step. You can change everything later.

Step 4: Assign devices to profiles

Go to Devices and assign each detected device to a profile. Bastet Home identifies devices by their hardware MAC address, so assignments stay accurate even if devices change their IP address.

Devices not assigned to any profile are blocked from the internet by default.

You are protected

Once devices are assigned, Bastet Home begins enforcing your profile rules immediately. No app installs, no router configuration, no technical knowledge required.
